There are many moments that I often hesitate to take a photograph, because I am not certain if it will be an interesting photograph, or I get worried about how my subject might respond to me.

Therefore the moment I have any sort of doubts or hesitation, I just take the photograph. The worst that will happen is that it will be a boring photo or the person might get upset at me. But the best thing that might happen is that it will be a great photograph.

José Pires – Ceramista e Pintor Caldense

Nasceu nas Caldas da Rainha em 1956. Cedo enveredou por um percurso artístico, dedicando-se ao desenho, à pintura e à cerâmica. Tornou-se ceramista profissional em 1972 e, de 1972 a 1989, Vidrador e Forneiro na Secla - Caldas da Rainha. De 1989 a 1991 foi vidrador e pintor na Fábrica de Faianças Artísticas das Caldas da Rainha.

Em 1983 participou no “Atelier de Arte Experimental – ARGILA”, Caldas da Rainha. De 1992 a 1994 viveu na Bélgica, onde expõe trabalhos e de 1994 e 1995 habitou em Paris. Em 1995 regressou a Portugal, expondo regularmente em vários países europeus. Está representado em múltiplos Museus e colecções.
